experiences getting hired

need a job, most job boards are filled to the brim with somehow "urgent" hiring requests, to which once I apply to, seemingly fall off the face of the earth. it doesn't help that i hate the feeling of doing nothing.

i'm trying to move out and need stable income while I'm in uni, how are y'all getting hired (if you do work)? am I looking in the right places?
