How come when I go for body hooks, my opponents head hooks still hit me, but when the situation is reversed and my opponent goes for body hooks, my head hooks miss them because their head goes lower for the body hits

Like why does it work for them but not me? Also why whenever I'm getting hit with body hooks I get locked into place unable to uppercut, block or move backwards, yet when I go for body hooks I instantly get uppercutted, even after I've landed 2 body hooks, my opponent doesn't get locked in place but I do when it's the other way around??
