Hearing trouble
I 19F have had hearing trouble for a few years, it started when I was 16 and had a double ear infection and had fluid in both ears. This caused permanent tinnitus. Despite there being no more fluid in my ears I constantly feel like I need to pop them. I went to an audiologist 2 years back and they could not find the cause for anything and my hearing test came back normal, I accepted this and moved on. However the symptoms have become worse over time, I did not realize but my best friend has told me it has gotten much worse. My hearing has become muffled(feels like cotton shoved in my ears) and will only clears if I pop my ears. I am able to pop my ears which clears the muffling but only temporarily, a few minutes, before it slowly becomes muffled again. Also despite being able to pop my ears they never really feel popped and I feel like they need to be but no matter how much I try they won’t clear. Now my hearing is now nearly constantly muffled unless I pop my ears, when I am alone I don’t pop my ears much because I would need to do it so often. This means whenever someone tries to get my attention it can take 3 or 4 times before I can hear them. Once I do then I pop my ears and listen to the conversation. This helps however it is not perfect the constant ringing has done some damage over time to my ability to hear others and certain sounds even without the muffling. Additionally to this the ringing has gotten worse, if there is not music or white noise then it becomes louder and all I can hear, making me have issues in a lot of my lectures when I can’t hear the professor speaking. Does anyone have any idea what is happening or possible treatments that could help.
