How to handle a non-texter as someone who loves to text?

I’ve been talking to this guy for a few months now. We are still not official. We’ve had our fair share of fall outs but we talked things out every time.
He’s pretty busy so we have only been on a few dates so far. Most of the days, we stay connected through texting. This is where a clash happens. He told me at the beginning that he is not a huge texter, and that he prioritizes having face-to-face convos over texting. He doesn’t even use any social media except LinkedIn. This further emphasizes his non-texting persona.
He usually takes a few hours (1-2 hours) or more (+4 hours). The time he takes to reply varies everyday.
I have tried to make up my mind, convince myself that this is his style of communication. Because whenever we meet, our convos flow well and I genuinely enjoy talking to him face to face.
But our schedules don’t always give us the chance to meet. So texting is definitely an important part in our connection. Sometimes it frustrates me when he takes so long to reply. I sometimes even question whether he’s losing interest because nothing is defined yet.
How should i approach this? How should I bring this up to him in a non-confrontational way? At the end of the way, I want our connection to not be suffocating for the both of us.
