The Sox need a new “Grinder Ball” type of identity

Opinion

I know it’s a little late in the season at this point, but I think the Sox need a legit marketing campaign again, one that goes deeper than just putting a slogan on signage, etc. Think 2005 Grinder Ball. It wasn’t just marketing. They actually played that way. Aggressive baserunning, defense, situational hitting, pitching, etc. It became part of the identity of the team.

I read a great article recently (might have been posted in this sub) about how the sox’s new (at the time) ad agency sat down with the executive office to really learn how they ticked, Grinder Ball was invented because of Ozzie’s emphasis on the above mentioned style he wanted to lead his team with. I’d love to see Will build something similar with this team. Whatever the identity is, actually use it in how they play. Make the players buy into it, make it part of how Venable manages games, and then build the marketing around what the team is actually doing.

Just my opinion, I loved the whole grinder ball campaign
