When something goes from 0 to 100 really fast, leaving characters bewildered at how it could have gotten that bad.

Community: "Remedial Chaos Theory" (season 3 episode 4): In the episode, the plot revolves around how a simple roll of a dice decides who leaves the table to get the pizza for the group. When the dice rolls a '1', Troy leaves up to get the pizza, but because of his wish to not miss anything, he slams the door too hard, causing a small diorama bolder to fall and trip Annie, who's gun accidentally discharges and hits Pierce in the leg, causing Britta to drop her joint and start a fire. When Troy comes back, the apartment is on fire, people are running around, or are hurt, and once he sees the garden knob that Pierce intended to give him as a cruel gift, he screams.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004): The origin of the meme itself.

Ron and his news team get lost down a shady alley, and end up being confronted by another group, themselves angry reporters one another news channel. Soon, three other news groups appear, and they all prepare to fight, their only rule that nobody damages the face or the hair, but everything else is okay. A fight begins, people are wounded and killed, but the fight is broken up nay incoming police sirens. Ron reflects about the fight afterwards, saying the line 'boy, that escalated quickly'.

(Hilarious trope) Well that escalated quickly.
