"Cookbook" Authors

Throughout the cookbook, different authors refer to the cookbook as a "cookbook" and the contributors as "authors" even though when Carl first gets the cookbook he finds out that the "cookbook" is not necessarily even a book when presented to some of the authors; it may appear as a board game, or anything really.

Is this contradiction because referring to it as the "anarchist's reference" and the owners as "contributors" instead of authors would be less... Fun?
