Are Tien / Etch Farms a necessity?

I find the idea of them incredibly boring, as an incorrect way to play the game, but that might just be me, also when are you supposed to have the time to breed so many of the same dragon when we have basically permanent events?

For context I’m level 102 and make around 88 million when all my habitats are completely filled.

Any advice?
