H4 Visa Interview- Update Chennai

Attended Visa Interview on August 4th.

My wife has 2 active I-797’s current one ends in Nov, new one start Nov 2026 and end Nov 2029. I wasn’t hoping I will get slot before Nov, so I filled my DS-160 with new I-797.

So I was worried that VO might issue or question the reason for using inactive I-797.

8:00 am slot went in by 8:30

Counter 6: Passports & finger prints verification

Went into interview lane

Counter 11:

VO: Is this new or renewal
Me: New

VO: Where are you going to be un US
Me: XXXXXXX

VO: Were you previously on a different VISA
Me: XX

VO: How long have you been married
Me: Xx

VO: Please take all your docs to counter 5 and comeback.

Counter 5

O: Please give me your passport
O: Your old I-797 please. Typed something.
O: please go back to Same counter

In Line and waited for my turn

VO: Remind me which Visa are you applying for
Me: H4

VO: Good that you listed all socials here
VO: We have to do additional verification for your social presence. Please check your status here !
