Asking question for the those familiar with D850?

I went from D5600 to D850 and Ive noticed the shadows are so dark and highlights very bright, but it almost exaggerates the mid tones. Is this just the better dynamic range or is it a setting I’m messing up?

I also notice my exposure meter when it says my subject is properly exposed, it’s actually quite underexposed.
