PCOS, Medoxyprogesterone, and Period Management Help
29F. 5'6". 300 lbs last I stepped on a scale a few weeks ago. Never smoker.
Diagnosed with: PCOS, IBS, GAD, MDD
Historically have had issues with vitamin D deficiency, and struggles with weight management.
PCOS is the relevant diagnosis here.
I take medoxyprogesterone as needed to induce my periods, as otherwise they don't happen. (Or, sometimes, constantly happen.)
I'm currently taking a course of this medication to induce my period. Historically, I just take all 10 pills that come with a refill. Generally, cramping and light bleeding does start to occur prior to finishing the whole course, but I have taken them all anyway, just to make sure that my period will for sure happen.
It's day 8, I haven't taken the pill for the day yet because the cramping and bleeding have started, and this particular time, I very much _want_ my period to start earlier than it would if I took all ten of the pills.
So - the question is - am I good to stop taking medoxyprogesterone if I am experiencing cramping and light bleeding? Does that mean it has successfully done its job to induce my period? Or do I need to complete the full course of the medication?
In case I didn't explain well enough. Each medoxyprogesterone refill is 10 pills. This series of 10 has always successfully induced my period. I have taken 7 so far. Today I am due to take the 8th. But if it will delay my period, I don't want to take it.
However, I don't want to potentially cause a perpetual slow bleed, or otherwise screw up normal period functions by not completing the whole series.
To mods - I hope I made this post correctly. First time posting on this sub.
