uk student visa approved india despite usa f1 refusal (214b) and career gap

hi, just wanted to post here as my case was bit unusal and people who may have similar background as mine.

my background: did btech in cse, graduated in 2020, worked in software industry till 2024 and took career break to become primary caregiver for my unwell father and now decided to do masters in fall 2026 had applied for usa and uk, attended interview for f1 visa at the end of june 2026 but unfortunately was refused under 214(b), i think it didnt sit well with them that i have career break (just my guess not sure the reason as they dont provide any details), although i told them truthfully why i was on break, anyway will give breakdown of timeline for uk visa.

i didnt take any help from agent.

july 4: paid the deposit and applied for cas got it in 7 days

took time collect all documents

july 23: paid visa fees (while filing application mentioned truthfully that my last working day was in 2024 and f1 visa was refused )

july 25: self uploaded all the documents

july 27: attend biometrics at vfs banglore (got the mail vfs received my application the same day and after that no mails from either ukvi and vfs)

august 13: received message from ukvi that my visa is approved (didnt get any interview invite)

documents list:

  1. cas letter

  2. ihs fee paid recipt

  3. scholarship letter that i had received from my university

  4. bank statement maintained for 28+ days which was generated from net banking (personal funds in my personal account, not taking money from my parents or loan from bank due to scholarship that i received)

  5. bank solvency letter: stating the amount and other details and maintained for 28+ days signed by manager included his phone number and mail id of bank and seal

  6. passport only first 2 and last 2 pages total 4 pages (international travel history none)

  7. employment expereince letter, payslips till 2024 (only of last 3 months of that year)

  8. my transcripts, degree certificate and ielts report

  9. TB test result

  10. intent letter or cover letter : explaining why i took career break and skills i gained working independently through open source projects to prepare of masters and why i want to do master, it was mostly 1 page

note 1: some of the documents mentioned aboved are not required (like intent letter) or optional (like ielts result, transcripts and degree certificate etc). i chose to do that since my case was bit different so i wanted to present to them all documents that will help them to consider me as geninue student.

note 2: will not be disclosing my univeristy name or any other peronsal details, just wanted to post so people should not worry if they had previous refusal or have career gap
