Getting a new outside unit split system heat pump.
As previously posted, we have a 23 y.o. AM STD system. The outer compressor/coil unit was installed in 2014 so it's 22 y.o.. The inside coil started leaking R410A and was replaced with an ADP A Coil generic two years back for $3500.. WARRANTY 10yrs remain.
Here in Canada, the end of 2025 meant there were NOT going to be any R410A AC Units produced anymore.
It was either find an R410 outdoor replacement in stock or rip out inner and outer unit and replace all for over $12k.
I found our local AM STD distributor still has some AS 4TXD2036A ( 3 Ton) QUEST ("Made for Canada to -30 °) side discharge units in stock. 10yr warranty.
Have had an interesting experience with the summer temps here to 97° keeping the AC outfits busy, busy,
Finally found one that's located the new (2025 unit) and is going to install next week for a few $hundred less than the commonly advt price of $5699.
My being "older than dirt", it'll be the last newAC unit I'll have to buy. That said, my 23 y.o. roof shingles have reached the end of their expected "lifetime " too so quotes to re roof the shingles are running $15-17K. It's sure a good thing I'm "made of money"...ha ha ha!😱😉
