People on this subreddit rarely ever make “controversial” takes with the intent of actually considering others viewpoints.

It seems like every time I see a controversial take, it’s just people who want to fight anyone who disagrees. They almost never want to consider another potential perspective. And it’s not just the OPs, it’s a lot of the commenters as well. The whole point (Or so I would I think) would be to have a line of conversation into the inner machinations of the minds of others, in an attempt to bridge gaps in one’s own knowledge, or to increase one’s awareness and understanding of viewpoints outside their own.

And I understand the “paradox of tolerance” exists to SOME points, but the tolerance of paradox doesn’t exist to just create an excuse to automatically disqualify any point you disagree with.

I believe that if you’re going to post a take on this forum, you should at the very least consider the other perspectives proposed, even if you don’t end up agreeing with that person.
