Heavy period and scout camp
Hi everyone! This is my first time posting, but I need help!
To give me advice, I think you’ll need to know the whole story. You should know that I got my first period pretty late, at age 15—which was a year ago. It was really awful. My flow was extremely heavy—I’d fill a Super+ tampon (which is supposed to last 6 to 8 hours) in less than an hour. Plus, I wasn’t ready for it at all—in short, it was rough.
Except that since then, nothing. It’s been exactly one year, and I haven’t had my period since—until yesterday. I know it’s not normal now, but before I used to tell myself that it was just my first period that was irregular, and to be honest, I was just glad not to have them anymore after the trauma of the first time.
And then, yesterday—a year later—it started again, and it’s horrible once more. I’m on my second day now, which is worse than the first; just to give you an idea, I fill up a Tampax Super+ in 45 minutes. It’s awful, especially since I’m on vacation at the beach. Luckily, my mom’s here this time. I talked to her about it and told her I might want to see a gynecologist, because I don’t think it’s normal to not have had my period for a whole year. My mom agreed, of course, but she’s not worried at all, so I doubt I’ll end up making an appointment.
But the worst part of all this is that in two days, on Saturday, I’m leaving for scout camp. My first one—and also my last. So, I’m not really sure how this is going to go, but right now I’m just freaking out. I won’t be able to do anything with a period this heavy! Especially since there’s no way I can see a gynecologist before camp. Plus, I was so excited to go to camp, but now it’s just stressing me out so much—I just want to stay home, but I think it’s too late to cancel.
Anyway, thanks for reading. If you have any advice for my camp or if you think I should see a doctor, don’t hesitate to let me know! Thanksss!
