Balance between Heart, Digestion and Urinary track. I was low fat, but then got gall stones. Starting eating fat and cholesterol went up. I am not asking for medical advice. Just opinion. I would really like to do the Jack LaLane thing and eat the same thing every day. 68, female, swim/tennis-3/week
Hi, my main concern was cardiac, so I was low fat-think Dean Ornish. I never had any digestive concerns and had a bit of an iron (eat anything stomach). Then a CT scan revealed I have gall stones. So I did a ERCP and the doctor put in a stent. I was miserable until the stent was removed, 3 months later. No CBD issues with the stent out, its been a year. The stent started my digestive problems. THey wanted my GB out, but I never had an attack, so its a year later and still have stones but no attacks. Though Now I will have random low level pain (like a bruise) on both my right and left side and sometime what feels like acid reflux.
Anyway, my LDL has gone up and I am resisting statins (total is 204, LDL is 130). My LP(a) is 6, but LPOB is 116. So I am trying to find the balance between cardiac and digestive and looking for suggestions. Glucose (99) and AIC (5.4) are fine and my family is highly diabetic resistant.
Oatmeal ( I love it) good or bad?
Cereal with milk good or bad?
Low fat or non-fat milk, yogurt/cottage cheese?
Protein powder, pea based mostly, good or bad?
I try to eat salmon 2-3 times a week and grapefruit every other day.
Also my Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio is way over 2, more like 5 or 6.
Supplements-fish oil, milk thistle (I had NAFL but it went away), iron, magnesium-gly., black cumin seed.
Trying to drink more water and also up my exercise ( I do masters competitions about 4-5 times a year-swim and track/field). Thanks for any opinions. I am not asking for medical advice.
