Need advice- Siblings
My sibling, whos room has been in the lower levels of home is moving to upstairs, close to my room. While they have been in the basement there has been issues with me, I am a very light sleeper and heavily affected by loss of sleep mentally especially during my school semesters. It is a constant issue where they will wash clothes very late which is noisy, as well as blasting music randomly, making loud kitchen noises very early/ late. when brought up they have responded along the lines of "i dont care" or "deal with it" "you make noise too" etc. I am very conscious of noise i make in sake of others, ex. i only listen to music in my headphones, don't wash at night etc. I suffer from migraines that are triggered with bad sleep, additionally my sibling will light candles / have heavy fragrances occasionally which i have learned to deal with but like these other issues i am worried about how much worse they will effect me while they are in closer proximity (increase headaches etc.)- same reaction when asked to stop this. I dont know what to do and in my experience they do not respond to speaking or me asking, the only time there is some change is when I freak out ( which isnt great but sleep deprivation really gets me to that point when i am already stressed). My parent is also the same, doesnt really care and favors her alot. I have no idea what to do, or if i'm being sensitive. I wear earplugs to bed but they can become really irritating to my ears and i don't really know how to deal with the stress and anger that comes with this situation. Additionally, they often easedrop or invade my privacy and im not sure how to navigate hanging out with my partner if they are upstairs, or if i will just have to stop hanging out with them in my house/room which would suck. I feel just awful about how heavily this situations weighs on me and causes me so much anxiety and i feel its not normal. Finding out they were even moving up here has really upset me and i feel really stuck and depressed- probably is a overreaction and id love advice from anyone whos gone through something similar on how to navigate this as well as how i can regulate my extreme emotions from this. *Moving out is absolutely not a option for me as a student.
