Hello,

I've already posted this cap on the warrelics forum and we have not found out yet , where the cap originated.

Maybe someone here can identify it.

The cap reminded me of an ss officer cap, because of the shape and the piping, so I bought it at a flea market in northern Germany.

It's definitely an old cap, the construction and workmanship is pretty good. It smells like it has been on an attic for the last decades. There are signs of wear and some sweat stains on the inside.

Some pin holes on the front of the cap show that one time there were badges mounted. Especially on the inside you can see the pin holes.

The fabric is some kind of herringbone pattern and greenish "salt and pepper" coloured. The piping is made from real metal, most likely aluminium. The lining material is a typical German side cap lining fabric in a light greenish colour.

I would love to know where this cap originated but I have never seen something similar.

My idea was that it could be some kind of field tailored German WW2 side cap , but it could also be anything else like early eastern German or paramilitary post war.

Please feel free to share your ideas. Any information is highly appreciated!
