Review: This one starts off so fucking stupid that I immediately knew I was going to have fun with it.

Seorin is twenty, but she and her best friend Jinseop have basically appointed themselves the neighborhood creep police. After their friend Yangmi gets assaulted by an older guy she met through a chat app, they get pissed that the police probably won't catch him and decide they're going to handle things themselves. Their genius plan is for Seorin to approach older men and later pretend she's a minor while Jinseop jumps in, takes pictures, gets their information, and scares the shit out of them.

Is this a good idea? Absolutely fucking not.

They've somehow gotten away with doing this eight times, though, so naturally they've convinced themselves they're professionals.

And that's how Seorin picks Chae Kangjin.

She spots this rich looking older man on the street and decides he's their next target. Except Kangjin is immediately different from the other guys they've tried this on. Seorin calls him mister, he tells her he's not a mister and makes her call him Grandpa because his son literally has a daughter around her age.

That should've been Seorin's first warning that maybe she picked the wrong fucking man.

She keeps going anyway.

Kangjin figures out almost immediately that something is off. He already knows people have been running scams like this in his territory, realizes Seorin is probably bait, and basically goes along with everything just to see what she's trying to pull.

So when Jinseop finally bursts into the hotel room thinking they've caught another creep, Kangjin is basically like, cute. Anyway, here's Seorin's university ID proving she's twenty.

I fucking laughed.

Their entire little vigilante operation falls apart in about thirty seconds because they unknowingly tried to scam an actual gangster who is smarter, stronger, and scarier than both of them combined.

I really liked Kangjin because he's such a funny contradiction. He's absolutely a dangerous man and clearly not somebody you want to fuck with, but he also has this weird old man morality system. He doesn't like people who target minors, thinks Seorin and Jinseop are idiots for putting themselves in danger, and basically lectures them like an angry parent while also casually terrifying the life out of Jinseop.

The funniest part is that he actually takes their reason seriously. Once he finds out what happened to Yangmi, he tells Seorin he'll look into the guy responsible. And unlike the police situation where everything felt hopeless, Kangjin apparently just handles it because, in his words, money lets you do more than you'd think.

That's kind of Kangjin in a nutshell. He's a gangster grandpa with money, connections, questionable morals, and just enough of a conscience to convince himself he's actually being responsible.

Seorin is also a fucking idiot, affectionately.

She's supposed to be trapping Kangjin, but she's basically attracted to him from the second he turns around. She keeps getting distracted by how handsome he is, how good he looks for his age, how expensive everything he owns is, and how much she likes his whole Grandpa thing.

Girl. Focus. You are supposed to be running a sting operation.

The real punchline comes a week later when Seorin goes to meet the family of the man her mother is about to marry.

Guess who walks through the fucking door.

Kangjin.

Her future stepfather calls him Father.

I would've died right there.

Suddenly the random older gangster Seorin can't stop thinking about is literally about to become her stepgrandfather. Kangjin didn't know who she was either, so they're both sitting through this nice family dinner pretending they've never met while Seorin is internally losing her shit.

That reveal is easily my favorite part of the entire story.

And somehow Seorin isn't horrified.

She's disappointed because she thinks this means she can't see Grandpa anymore.

This girl has absolutely no survival instincts.

After dinner, she actually follows him outside and asks whether he knew who she was before. Kangjin basically tells her no, because even he has standards and wouldn't knowingly mess around with his son's daughter.

Okay. Reasonable.

That should be the end.

It is not the end.

Seorin immediately decides she wants to keep seeing him anyway.

Kangjin gives morality approximately five seconds of consideration before deciding that if his new granddaughter is voluntarily walking into this mess, who is he to stop her?

The mental gymnastics from this man are fucking incredible.

What I liked most about this one is that it doesn't waste time pretending it's deeper than it is. The entire story is basically built around one ridiculous coincidence and the comedy of these two people realizing they're about to become family after already meeting under completely different circumstances.

It's short, fast, stupid, funny, and knows exactly what kind of story it wants to be.

I also liked the vigilante setup more than I expected. The whole minor bait situation isn't treated like Seorin is actually underage. She's explicitly twenty and pretending to be younger so she and Jinseop can expose older men who target minors. Their motivation comes directly from what happened to Yangmi, so even though their plan is unbelievably reckless, I understood why they started doing it.

Kangjin calling them out for being idiots was deserved too. They're adults trying to play vigilante without understanding how badly things could go if they picked the wrong person.

Which they do.

Spectacularly.

The downside is that this is really fucking short. The setup is honestly more interesting than the amount of story we actually get from it. I would've loved more of Kangjin and Seorin trying to act normal around the family, more gangster nonsense, more Jinseop realizing his best friend actually went back to Grandpa willingly, and just more consequences from this completely ridiculous situation.

Instead, it basically gets to the big family reveal, establishes that neither of them plans to stay away from the other, and wraps things up.

So this felt more like the beginning of a longer story than a fully developed one.

Still, I had fun with it.

Seorin trying to catch a creepy old man and accidentally catching herself a gangster grandpa is exactly the kind of stupid plot twist that works for me. Kangjin being completely aware that the situation is morally questionable before immediately inventing reasons why it's actually fine made it even funnier.

Absolutely ridiculous.

I just wish there was more of it though.
