I’d been staying at the same hotel as you for a few days, though we’d never actually spoken. You were just another familiar face in passing: someone I occasionally saw in the lobby, the elevator, or drifting through breakfast at odd hours. Although I was too much of a coward to introduce myself, you were beautiful and I would've loved to know you.

I went to one of the world famous landmarks one evening, hoping to get some nice sunset photos. While walking around the site, I noticed my shoelace was untied and so I stepped off to the side, dropping to one knee to tie it. That's when I started to hear gasps and whispers all around me.

I look up to see a small crowd had gathered, with some people filming... me? I was obviously confused, and so I look up to figure out what was going on. That's when I saw you, your back turned to me as you took pictures of the landmark.

They thought I was proposing?

I tried shushing the crowd, but it only helped to reinforce it, as if I didn't want anyone to spoil it. When you finally turned around, I didn't know how to explain it to you. I stand up quickly and get a bit closer to you. "I think they think I'm proposing! I'm so sorry! Just... Go along with it?" I suggest.

A few people had already started celebrating with us. One person handed you a bouquet of flowers, another popped a bottle of champagne nearby and another nearby restaurant owner offered us a table and a meal shortly after. I didn't know what to do other than to go along with it. Thankfully, you didn't seem alarmed or insulted, you seemed almost amused by it instead? Maybe even curious about where this would lead. I hoped! We didn't correct anyone, just accepted the champagne, flowers and meal.

Champagne became dessert, dessert became dinner, the hotel upgraded our room, and suddenly everyone was treating us like we were actually engaged. At some point, explaining the truth would’ve required unraveling something too ridiculous to justify. Everything just started to feel so right, so natural. Was it even worth correcting? I was starting to enjoy this!

Which was also complicated, considering I still don’t even know your last name.

I think this could be a fun, wholesome RP or maybe a bit more exciting if you wanted to mix in some cheating aspects, which I've been on a kick of lately! Chats are open!
