Gap Year Between Junior and Senior Years?

❔ Question

How would taking a gap year between junior and senior years of undergrad look when applying to medical school? I am going into my junior year with very low clinical hours and feel like I need a dedicated time to boost my clinical experiences and also study for the MCAT. Taking a gap year AFTER graduating would mean that most of my clinical experiences could not included on my primary application if I submit it in early June. Also, if I take a gap between junior and senior years, the classes I would be taking senior year are mostly electives that do not necessarily build directly off the courses I will have previously taken. I do not personally know of anyone who has done this and would love to hear other opinions on this idea.
