Animal control got a call about animal cruelty

A dog who is boarding with me, was suffering from a large tumor, and I took their dog to the vet and at that point they put their dog down. Now animal control is calling me wanting a statement in regard to animal cruelty. Has anyone ever had experience with us and how did it turn out for you?
