M/68, 9 days since banding, still spotting and bands have not dislodged

Had a colonoscopy August 4, had banding done to stop bleeding right after a BM. It's been 9 days, still getting bouts of blood squirting into the bowl (yesterday), still excruciating pain right after a BM for a few minutes. I lube the hole to make parring easier and can still feel the bands. Doc says it's normal and to be patient. Been taking a tablespoon of Metamucil after dinner every day, and by 9 AM the next morning, it's always slipped out, no straining.

Anyone else take forever to lose the bands or had a secondary procedure to remove them?
