So I Jumped Ship to VITURE Pro 2

Long time reader, first time poster...

Will the Viture Pro 2 be the value proposition for a newbie like me into the XR space, or are their truly better value alternatives?

Backstory:

I have been interested in the xr/ar space for quite some time. Doing tons of research about 6-9 months ago, I landed on the Xreal One Pro as the best for my use case. (60% content consumption, 30% gaming with steam deck, 10% PC productivity). I never committed due to the entry price and newness of the technology.

XR came back to my attention as the algorithm started feeding me reviews of the Viture Pro 2. This started a rabbit hole of research. I am seeking VALUE, not really a perfect experience. I am fine paying a bit more for a better experience, but value is a major driver in my purchasing decision.

So I made the decision to buy the Xreal 1s. It seemed like a good middle ground for me... but then I got cold feet and cancelled, not wanting to commit the ~$450 USD to them.

I will add Viture's marketing didn't really speak to me and doing enough research on all these XR glasses (Xreal, Viture, Rayneo, etc.) I understand each has pros/cons. So, I came to the conclusion Xreal was probably "ahead" in this space with the user experience, onboard computing, and software. (These reviews on Spacewalker definitely don't bring me comfort)

I get motion sickness so the 3dof was something I thought would help and figured it was worth paying for. Tons of YouTube videos and ChatGPT prompts led me to this conclusion. The Xreal One Pro was for me.

I ordered on Amazon and they shipped from Xreal Direct, but they arrived used! This was severely disappointing having spent full price for a new pair. I don't blame Xreal or Amazon, these things just happen but I took a step back and assessed where my hard earned money should go. (They did afford me the opportunity to give a quick test of if the XR experience was even for me. I just plugged them into my iPhone 15 pro and watched maybe 3 minutes of a YouTube video. (Needless to say, I did like it)

Reassessing my purchase from a value proposition and after some more comparison in the ~$300 USD price range out of the Xreal xbxao1 and the Viture Pro 2, I finally concluded the Viture Pro 2 offered me the best "entry" level experience into this new tech. I chose these for two major reasons:

  1. Clarity - The thing that really sold me is the reviews on clarity. Understanding the resolution doesn't tell the full story with these optics, and that sharpness and clarity can have overlapping definitions, it excited me the reviews of edge to edge clarity were resoundingly positive.

  2. Myopia adjustments - I have some nearsightedness so the myopia adjustments is welcome. After wearing contacts all day at work the last thing I want to do is leave them in to fry my eyes with bright XR content, but some additional research actually leads me to believe they aren't actually as bad for your eye health as they may seem. Even good in some ways... but I digress, I don't want inserts and I don't want to punish my corneas with 18hr of dryness by keeping my contacts in just to enjoy a movie or game before bed.

Bonus - I'll try 3dof with spacewalker and determine an upgrade path in the future.

So here we are...

I ordered direct off of Vitures website and I have yet to receive them, but will update this post with my initial thoughts and probably do a longer 30-60 day follow up on what I think of them through the lens of VALUE! Just be aware, I really have no foundation to compare them. It will just be my newbie review of the Viture Pro 2 XR glasses. Here is to hoping Viture can keep me for the long haul and I don't have any more negative shipping experiences...
