Want to start in Canada

I'm looking to start investing in canada. I recently came into some money and would like to invest\nAt least half of it. I would probably want to be well at risk , as i'm sixty three and about to retire on disability. Does anyone have any advice for any platforms? Stocks? Im totally new...Suggestions.
