God, this is driving me crazy. It's been over a year now. The kid sprints back and forth through the apartment (vid) at all sorts of hours and jumps from the bed to the floor directly over my roommate's room. The mother stomps around everywhere, and it genuinely surprises me how much noise she can make given that she's a tiny lady. We've tried knocking on her door twice now to talk to her, and she refuses to answer (which I get tbh, she's a single mom and we don't know each other and these are scary times). I know how kids are, they have a lot of energy and they're gonna run around and play and be kids. But like, how do you not realize your kid is jumping and stomping around so hard that he's shaking the ceiling fan in the unit below yours?

And the worst part is that it isn't even the building. We never heard a peep from the previous upstairs neighbors. When our ceiling leaked, management had a maintenance guy who was easily 5'10 and 275+ lbs. come fix it. When we discovered that the leak was from the upstairs unit's AC, he said he was gonna get permission to go up there and fix that. I waited and waited to hear the footsteps... i didn't even know he was in the upstairs unit until i heard the saw cutting into the floor. How is a man who was easily three times this lady/child's size and wearing big ol' heavy steel toe workboots that are OPTIMAL stomping boots, somehow quiet as a mouse compared to both of them?

I am genuinely baffled as to how those two manage to be so loud and heavy-footed. There's no way they don't know, right? Like, the kid wasn't even directly overhead in the video, he was running through the hallway on the right. No audio amplification or anything, either. Our other neighbor heard it last time she came over and was flabbergasted. I almost want to ask the upstairs neighbor if she wants to come into my apartment for five minutes while she sends her kid back upstairs to sprint around, just so she can hear it too. I'm not even mad at this point, i'm just exhausted, and if i wasn't exhausted i'd honest to god be impressed. But alas, my roommate and i are both going insane. Send help, thoughts, and/or prayers.

Oh hey, the upstairs neighbors are home...
