Tips on how to get through the day to day in a school with broken promises and bad management
What are some tips to get through a hectic 45 min commute each way and the day to day and working for a school you have no respect for and makes you miserable? I’m obviously seeking new employment but I’m most likely stuck until the semester ends
I teach at a British school in a foreign country. The school has seriously poor management and no structure or communication or organization. The students aren’t even allowed tissue or soap in the toilets because they “waste it” but that’s beside the point.
Last year I was seeking to leave and received a higher paying offer with a closer location to my home. I went to put in my notice and was convinced to stay due to a new location opening even closer to my home and the promise of a raise. I thought maybe the new school location could be a good fresh start and might have better practices in place so I agreed to stay with a verbal confirmation. Today I received word that I will be continuing my role at the old school instead of the new with no pay changes. Honestly I’m not surprised, everything about this school is a lie and I should have known better. 😞
