I have 400 hours in this game and I still have no idea what I'm doing. How do you get good at this game?

More than half of that time was on Tutorial Island on Very Easy difficulty trying to figure out what all these buttons do. Most of the rest of it was in the AGOT mod. I think I've only done 2-3 runs of the real game outside of Ireland, most of which were Matilda. I genuinely have no idea what I'm doing, and no idea how to figure out what I'm doing. Normally I would watch YT videos and read stuff to figure out meta, but this game is so huge that I never have any idea what anybody is talking about. I feel like I'm playing a pretty reactive game, just responding to pop-ups and stuff, rather than playing with any real strategy or goal.
