This unit was kindly sent out for review, although this won't change my opinion on the product itself.

* **Mouse shape and base**

The shape of the K7 V2 Ultra+ is the same as the original K7, although with a click separator being added on the V2, it's extremely close to the Viper V4 Pro shape with minor differences like a slightly flatter rear and a very slight difference in width, both of which are not really noticeable.

Regarding the width, it presents a very wide back that narrows down towards the middle, greatly aligning with the sensor, to then flare out smoothly till it reaches the top. It's a shape that lacks curvature, and the sides are on the flatter end, which makes it a great fit for most claw grips as it eases the ability to pinch them but also allows more room for hybrid grip styles.

When it comes to the height, it has a flatter rear hump that slopes up until reaching its highest point in the middle to then slope down to middle-height clicks with very notable finger grooves.

My experience using it, with my 18x10 hands and aggressive to relaxed claw, has been pretty similar to most universal shapes. I have never really been a fan of the Viper shape, I find it quite boring and a bit big for my handsize, although in practice I perform well with it.

The back hump provides good enough support on the thenar and doesn't lock my palm in place as much, so it's open for a more hybrid grip style with fingertip and claw grip, for example, as the hump doesn't really get in the way when changing grip style. It does seem to feel more limited than smaller shapes in both lateral and vertical movements.

Besides, the finger grooves on the main clicks help lock my contact points around the scroll wheel area, and combined with the flat side walls, it makes it an easy recommendation for most aggressive claw grips.

For mainly fingertip and palm grips, it does present more flaws, especially for a pure fingertip grip, due to the weight. A palm grip, on the other hand, although viable up until 19x10 hands, can be uncomfortable depending on the size of the thenar. Also, I believe it will be more limited than most ergos in the market due to the lower height clicks, which can cause disconnections on the palm, as well as their mushier feeling click at the very top.

The base features the same design as the V1, with a centered sensor (52%), a DPI button, and a 2.4G/Off/B switch. The skate design is the exact same, also it comes with the same skates seen on the V1, with these having decent dynamic friction but higher static than I would recommend.

Below the skates, it presents a more open design, with the ridges on the skates being quite low so most aftermarket skates should fit fine without damaging softer pads.

* **Build integrity and coating**

The build integrity is basically perfect, it has no side flex when pressing with both hands and no flex on the rest of the shell, with some flex on the base, although a normal amount, though it isn't really something you can notice when using it.

Even after taking it apart and putting it back together, the build integrity on the shell remains the exact same. Although it isn't as impressive with such a high weight, it is still an improvement compared to their previous releases and also the K7 V1.

The coating is more on the matte side, but with a smoother finish, especially with drier hands. It's still very grippy, to the point of easily locking my grip points in place, with somewhat warm hands.

* **Primary and side clicks**

The main clicks are using Omron mechanicals, this is a downgrade compared to the Omron opticals that were on some of the V1 colorways. The clicks themselves are pretty crispy but not as tactile. Although spammable, they can seem hard to click at times, especially around the middle part.

The buttons have a much better implementation than the V1, they present minimal pre-travel and some slight post-travel when clicking around the scroll wheel area as well as having a quick rebound. At the very top they do have a mushier feeling with some pre- and post-travel and a less responsive click feel.

They have a very solid feeling with minor side-to-side wobble around the scroll wheel area but a weaker, less refined feeling at the top, not as bad as the V1 but also noticeably worse than how they feel when clicking more in the back.

All in all, I think for any form of aggressive claw with 19x10 hands or lower, the clicks will feel very good, although on the harder end, but not even as hard as my XM2w 4K since these don't bottom out as quickly. They are still a much needed improvement compared to the V1, as those felt noticeably delayed in-game and had a looser implementation with higher travel.

The side buttons have a very similar shape to those on the VV4, with them protruding a normal amount at the top part but not as much as on the bottom. The clicks are somewhat crisp and tactile.

The buttons have very little pre- and post-travel when pressing them normally, it's still not the best quality or implementation when comparing them to their A7 lineup, as these have more post-travel and wobble when pressing in. It is not substantial and wasn't really a problem in-game, but it does make them feel cheaper.

* **Scroll wheel**

The scroll wheel has a rubberized finish with not as defined steps, it is using a TTC Gold encoder with a medium to low scroll force. The wheel, similar to the VV4, sits quite low, easing the switch between the clicks and the scroll.

M3 presents a medium to low actuation force, with a very spammable and somewhat crisp click.

The feel isn't as premium as the rest of the shell, with it being more of a medium-budget-feeling scroll wheel, the overall finish and the lack of definition on the steps do hold it back when using it in-game.

* **Weight and balance**

The weight and weight balance are the biggest issues on this model, as it comes in at 62g with the pre-installed skates on. This makes it feel light but on the higher range in terms of density, with the in-hand feeling being similar to higher weight mice like the XM2w 4k.

Also, it's 10g heavier than the VV4, and with the weight distribution being rather back heavy due to the wireless charging placed below the battery.

With the balance point placed slightly back (1-2%) to both the sensor and the middle of the side buttons, making it feel denser and heavier in-game.

Although this problem can easily be solved by opening the mouse and removing the wireless charging, making it 57g with 4 dots on my unit and shifting the balance point to the middle of the side buttons, making it feel much lighter.

If wireless charging is an important factor, as much as the weight balancing can seem like a big issue, if you mainly use this mouse for some time, you will get used to it, and it won't really be a problem in the long run.

* **Software**

It uses a software web with 4 pages:

1. Key remapping: all 5 mouse buttons can be remapped to keyboard binds and macros.
2. DPI: up to 6 DPI profiles from 200 to 50000; you can also make separate X/Y DPI settings or set the DPI in intervals of 1.
3. Lighting: to adjust the lighting effects of the charging dock.
4. Performance: includes settings such as Motion sync, Ripple control, Angle snap, Glass surface mode, Sleep time (0-100 min), LOD height (0.7, 0.9, 1.2, 1.4, or 1.7 mm), Click debounce (1-20 ms) separate on M1 and M2, Polling rate (125-8 kHz), Mode selection (Performance, Gaming, and Extreme), and Rotate (sensor angle adjustment).
5. Other: firmware updates and factory restore.

* **Performance**

The performance, with a 3955, has been great during my time using it. I haven't noticed any sort of wireless interferences.

The sensor itself doesn't provide any real benefits compared to the 3950, and it doesn't include any new setting in the software.

I mainly tested it on Fortnite and Kovaaks.

On Fortnite, the clicks are so much better to play with than the V1, as those felt really delayed in-game. Aside from that, the side buttons, although not perfect, have a decent implementation and weren't really a problem.

The scroll wheel did feel like a downgrade compared to most other mice I have used since the rubberized part isn't as texturized, which, combined with the lower scroll force and not as defined steps, makes a more loose and less snappy input.

On Kovaaks, I didn't experience any issues aside from some microstutters when I tried 8k Hz on my first session with the mouse, this hasn't happened ever since. Besides, the shape was mostly good enough, but fine control and overall lateral range of motion seemed limited at times due to the size.

* **Conclusion**

Overall, the K7 V2 Ultra+ is a great upgrade from the original and, as much as I find the shape boring, made it a model I could easily main due to improvements on the clicks and build quality. That said, I do believe it's still a worse option than the Viper V3 Pro SE at a similar price unless 8k Hz or the charging dock are important to you.
