I’ve been lurking for quite some time in this subreddit, and before I’ll oberflow you with questions I want to ensure:

While I’m not a part of the ficto dating community/a yumeshipper, I am intrigued in an non judgy, sincere way.
I am interested in all kinds of community’s, subcultures and ways of living that involve mutual consent and no harm.
So, while I can only give you my word for it, I swear I’m not here to harm, troll or make anyone uncomfortable.

I will hide this post from my post history so it stays inside this subreddit and doesn’t attract people who’re not part of it (i will be honest: I would love to make my first substack article and I think this would be an interesting theme, but it’s still just a thought and I think I’d rather have a few people who’re consenting to this dm me and answer my questions rather than picking from your answers and accidentally using your comment without consent.:] )

I am interested to hear from everyone, from casual yumeshippers to strictly void shippers, people who’re soulbounded and everything on the spectrum!

So, coming to my questions, feel free to choose the ones you’re comfortable answering:
[I will use the word dynamic instead of relationship because I think it’s a more inclusive term!]

1.How do you incorporate your dynamic into IRL, especially if you’re keeping it a secret that you’re a yumeshipper?

2.If you told your IRLs, what was their reaction?

3.How do you interact with your fictional partner? Do you roleplay with others?
And if you do, how do you handle them not characterising your FP right?

4.Would you ever date irl or are you only interested in fictional characters?

5.What does a meet up with another yumeshipper look like? (I saw someone drawing them/their OC and their FP in their wedding guest fit outfits, that was very interesting to me) do you usually draw art for that, do you only rp via chat or do you meet up irl?

6.Do you think it’s a phase and are you afraid of it being one?

7.Do you consider yourself Part of the asexual spectrum? Do you consider people who’re yumeshipper part of the LGBT or is it a generally different thing to you?

8.If you’re an older yumeshipper (25+ y.o.), what are your thoughts, opinions and maybe advice to other yumeshipper and people like me who engage from the outside? And also how did the scene change looking back a few years, or decades, in comparison to now?

9.How do you feel about people who cosplay as your FP? Do you like it, or dislike it, and why?

10.For those who’re jealous / non-sharing: How would or do you handle it, if you’re good friends with someone they (start to) hang out with doubles?

11.Have you ever been in a dynamic with the OC of someone else rather than with a FP from an established franchise?

12.How do you handle shipping with someone that is canonically young(er than you)?

13.What are your thoughts on the “Alan wife” from smiling friends - do you think it’s cool representation, giving you hope or does it make you anxious to see that other shippers can canonically become the partner of your FP?

14.Do you think the appeal to being a yumeshipper is, that you can live out *any* fantasy safely (sexual or non-sexual?)

15.Can it be a way to cope or avoid grief? (Since FP’s will live on forever)

16.Have your FPs been jealous, if not how would you handle it?
