My gf loves me, but isn’t in love with me
My gf [23W] and I [23M] broke up last night on good terms. We’ve been together for 8 and a 1/2 months, and while it’s the shortest relationship I’ve been in in the past 5 years, it’s the one that’s hit the hardest. We were very happy and plan to keep being friends (we were friends for about a year before either of us made a move in August 2025) and hang out when we can, since we were best friends before anything happened. My girlfriend’s sexual desires (she’s Demi btw) started in fade starting in July, but we marked it up to her sexuality. Since then, she isn’t sure anymore. Last night she told me that while she still loves me, she simply isn’t attracted to me sexually anymore, and because of this she isn’t sure if she is romantically anymore either. She’s continued to make sure I understand that she does love me, but that it’s “changed a little.” To me, this comes off as she loves me, but she isn’t in love with me anymore. We’d been struggle with this for the past month, it the first real conflict we’d ever really had, but it came at a standstill last night. My life has changed a lot in the past few months, I graduated college, started a full time job and have been having some issues with staying in contact with friends since many are having to move back home to their parents until they get on their feet. She on the other hand is starting college herself in a week and will be paying for it on her own, so it’s been a massive struggle for her. She isn’t entirely sure if the stress has caused any of these intimacy issues, but she’s leaning toward it being a problem before the stress started building. We hung out for a few hours after we broke up and watched a movie from our bucket list. And honestly? It was the most fun we’ve had in a month. We were talking and laughing like usual, and while we weren’t cuddling or kissing or anything, she was still rather close to me by the end and flirting to a degree. This is exactly how it was like when we hung out in the beginning, when I had admitted to her that I liked her but she was unsure if she did yet. All of the stress from the last month had completely disappeared. She’s also made it clear that this is hurting her as well and that she hates that things had to end, that it was a really hard decision. I’m not going to sit here and wait on her because that‘s unhealthy for us both, but what I’m asking is do you still think I have some inkling of a chance of this working out and how should I go about it? I’m stuck between us simply not being compatible for her anymore or if the stress of life and our relationship struggles recently hit a bit of a breaking point finally. I’d love to hear your thoughts down below. I’ve never been able to see a future with anyone before like I have with her, even in our short time together, and it hurts to think of our romantic history becoming simply that, history.
TL;DR - My gf and I broke up because she’s no longer sexually attracted to me and is unsure about romantically as well. She still loves me and we still act relatively the same, I’m just unsure whether we have a chance of moving past this
