27F, BMI ~28.5 — considering GLP-1 medication in Bangalore

Not Started

Hi everyone, I’m 27F with a BMI of around 28.5. I’ve struggled with my weight for the past few years and have tried dieting, gym, calorie tracking, etc., but losing weight has been extremely difficult.

I gained quite a bit of weight after starting antidepressants a few years ago, and I was also on steroids for some time due to health issues. Since then, my weight has felt very difficult to shift, and it’s been affecting me mentally as well.

I’m considering speaking to a doctor about GLP-1 medications (semaglutide/tirzepatide), but I’m unsure how the process works when your BMI is below 30.

For anyone in Bangalore who has gone through this:

•	What was your first consultation like, and which type of doctor did you see?

•	Were you prescribed GLP-1 medication with a BMI between 27–30?

•	What was your experience with side effects and weight loss?

•	Roughly how much did it cost per month?

•	Do you have to visit the clinic every time for the injection, or can you self-administer it at home?

•	How easy is it to keep the treatment private if you live with family?

I’m looking for experiences from people who have actually gone through it, rather than trying to get medication without medical supervision. Would really appreciate any advice.
