The Small Things That Stay With You

Sometimes the part of a rideshare you remember most is something the other person probably forgot five minutes later.

A driver waits an extra thirty seconds while you find the right entrance.

A passenger notices you’ve been driving all night and says, “I hope you get home soon.”

Someone turns the music down without being asked.

Someone realizes the other person doesn’t feel like talking and lets the ride stay quiet.

From one side, it might feel like nothing.

From the other side, it can land differently because of whatever was happening before that car arrived.

That’s one reason I think rideshare stories are more interesting when we hear both perspectives.

The passenger knows what the ride interrupted.

The driver knows what happened during it.

Neither one necessarily knows what the moment meant to the other person.

What’s one small thing a driver or passenger did that stuck with you longer than they probably realized?

Keep it privacy-safe—no names or identifying details.
