Help ! Need advice H1b (I485 gc)
Hi everyone, I need some advice on my situation.
I'm currently on an H-1B visa and working in New Jersey. My husband is a U.S. citizen living and working in California. We recently got married and are planning to file for my marriage-based green card.
We've received conflicting advice from two immigration attorneys. One attorney strongly recommended that we live together before and during the green card process, saying it would make the case much smoother. The other attorney said it's okay if I stop working on my H-1B after filing the I-485 because I can remain in the U.S. while the application is pending, although I would need to wait for my EAD before working again.
The challenge is that my husband hasn't been able to find a suitable job in New Jersey, and I'm also finding it difficult to get a good H-1B job in California. I still have about 15 months left on my H-1B, so I'm unsure whether I should:
* Keep my H-1B job in New Jersey and temporarily live apart while we file the green card application, or
* Move to California to live with my husband, leave my
H- 1B job, and rely on my pending adjustment of status.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did living in different states because of work cause any issues during the marriage-based green card process? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice Thank voul
