Pretentiousness in the creative community. How do you deal?

It’s put me off from networking and going to art school, and finding jobs in galleries and such. I just find a lot of artists and creatives in and around my area (London) kind of ponsy snd trustfundy and take themselves too seriously and is just outright pretentious, with a lot of cliqueness too and elbow rubbing with trying to climb to networking ladder. I just want to find a community and workspace of eccentric down to earth weirdos who create from their inner child and not ego.
