Bird poop damage on clear coat … fixed itself?!

I Have A Question

Hi all, I’m not normally heavily into detailing (bought a planetary polisher and used it exactly once ever). The other day I noticed a solid bird poop on the side of my car (silver metallic paint, repainted about 2 months ago from damage). It’s above the front wheel.

Anyways, it annoyed me and I was worried it will eat into the clear coat so I cleaned it yesterday and indeed, the clear coat was damaged - misty and looked slightly eaten by the acid.

So I resorted myself to having a go with the polisher. However I went to the car today and THE DAMAGE IS NO LONGER THERE.

I didn’t wash the car, it didn’t rain. It was very hot and the car was in the sun most of the day. Car still had dust elsewhere on the panel except where I cleaned the poop off. But there’s nothing visible on the clear coat at all.

Can this be? Or am I insane? Should I check my CO meters in my flat? A quick google told me that sunlight won’t really help clear coat heal.
