K1 visa appointment scheduling DS-160/DS-260 confusion/problem help.
The story.
We have received a confirmation email from a US Embassy that they received our application and that we need to file a DS-160 and then schedule an appointment and pay for it.
The main email message instructs to fill in the DS-160 form. Then go to xxxxxx website to schedule an appointment and make a payment.
The email includes an attachment with detailed step by step instructions. And here is the confusing part. It says:
- "Important Information Regarding your U.S. Immigrant Visa Appointment" "You have been identified as an immigrant visa applicant"
- From the Sign-up page, select the option “I have received a consular interview appointment date from the National Visa Center (NVC), Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), or the Consular Section and I have been instructed to register my appointment on this site”.
- On the “Select IV Service” page, select the option “I need to register an immigrant visa appointment”
- After step (3) the system asks for a DS260 confirmation number.
The problem with reference to the above instructions:
1) K1 visa is a non-immigrant visa, why does the instruction tells the opposite?
2) We have not received the appointment date. why does it say to choose "I have received an appointment date"?
3) Why do we need to choose "register for immigrant visa" while we have a K1 non-immigrant visa application?
4) We do not have a DS260 confirmation number. We only have a DS160 number.
Can anyone, who went through this process, please advise on the steps you took in order to schedule or register the appointment?
Did you also receive an immigrant visa appointment instructions?
Did you enter your DS-160 confirmation number where it asked for a DS-260 number?
Did you receive your appointment date from NVC before you registered the appointment?
This all is so confusing.
Hopefully, someone will clear this up.
Thank you.
