Has anyone's feelings ever faded just as the other person starts to like you back?

I 25F liked a friend for awhile but it was one sided

However as time went on i realized that we aren't 100% compatible anyway ( his love language/ communication style is literally the complete opposite of what I look for in a partner)

Problem is now my my friend 26M now likes me back, and I just can't muster up thar spark I once felt...

Is it the end of the road for pur friendship? I told him we needed space from each other. Struggling with this
