[Online] [Wrath & Glory] [5pm GMT+3 Sundays] Looking for a couple more players for a sandbox Warhammer 40k adventure.

LFP (Looking for Players)

G'day. As per the title i'd like to get 1-2 more players for my campaign. We already have rather great 2 lads. The game is strictly 18+. Set in the grim dark universe of 40 thousand-ish, run by me, a goober, as more of a grim-derp sort of ordeal.

The DM:
I am well experienced at being a game master, spanning a quite a few years and systems. I prefer running things by the book where can, but that doesn't mean there's going to be no homebrew. My style is to build the world first and then let people screw around in it. Combats vary but tend to veer on the more difficult side. Lethality is always on the table. What's more due to my sandboxy style i leave the possibility of players finding their way into encounters they can not physically win in a fight. Frequency depends on group's approach to situations, but, more or less, expect to see the initiative about once a session.

We have been playing W&G for about a month and a half and i have not run it before that myself, or in other words, the system is still somewhat new to both me and other players. That being said we all have our bearings in hand by now and i am fairly confident i can guide anyone interested with no knowledge of how things work through the thick of it.

I lean towards being a min-maxer / number crunchy nerd as a player and this translates into the way i run things. I don't like doing voices very much, so you probably shouldn't expect much range in that department. ERP is strictly banned at my table. I treat game manual as fully accessible to every player. If there is an item in the book you've read about and want to get - ask me for it. Open book policy - I roll piratically everything out in the open, I share all the abilities I use in the VTT chat.

Notable game quirks:
The few notable aspects about my game would be time management, faction gameplay and obviously the free form nature. The setting is Warhammer 40k with events of the campaign transpiring in the Gilead system (pre-packaged with W&G) however with plenty of spice of my own.

As mentioned a few times earlier, the game is an undiluted sandbox. By all means, you should expect to find quests and leads in the world, as well as there is a "main plotline" but i by no means expect you to double down and follow through on everything you find. In fact you will find that you have to choose carefully where to lend your capable sword, lest you reap some quite undesirable results.

Faction gameplay implies this - there are several groups that have their own goals, agents and unique benefits to building a relationship with. However most of said factions have interests that go against each other and you will find sometimes find that your quests do not align to have all of parties pleased. Building a relationship with a faction will open more ability to customise your character with guns, talents and the rest, while antagonising them may lock you out of some options permanently. Not to mention that player involvement may well change the direction factions are taking or eradicate these groups outright.

At last let's talk about the time aspect. It is something I - as a DM- am tracking in the background. Every set large period of time is treated as an end to a global turn of sorts and all factions advance their agenda they had planned out in advance at the beginning of the aforementioned faction turn. This can render some quests, rooms, dungeons etc. inaccessible or impossible to complete. Major events in the campaign can also serve to advance time in similar manner. Your decisions in play matter and the way you spend your in-game time may well spell your character's doom.

The entire thing happens in the 40k universe with all that entails. There is absolutely no requirement from any of the players to be lore experts or any some-such. If you are interested in giving the setting a bash, that's really all i ask for. But this does come with the specificity of the game being on the more mature rated side. And that is not to say, that in-universe knowledge is going to be unhelpful.

The game itself:

The group is strictly Imperium-based. All current players are human. Alien races like orks, eldar and the rest at present are unavailable to play. Abhumans like ogryn and ratling from the expansion material are. Currently the game is in late stages of tier 1 play. In other terms, your archetype choice for the moment will be limited to beginner classes (T1) with extra exp to spend on stats, atributes and perks as well as gear.

You are a group of rag-tag mercenaries, assembled through a matter of convenience and an opportunistic streak of luck. The world around is crumbling apart and the few people capable of keeping it together are locked in a death match against themselves and agents of chaos gnawing at the edges of reality itself. The ship you now reside on is a mighty one - an Emperor Class Battlecruiser - "Scintilla Clypeum". Yet this ancient masterwork has certainly seen better better days.

Having braved the Straights of Andraste, both the crew and Scintilla herself have taken immense damage. Many decks lie in ruin, derelict or dead and seemingly inaccessible. And the forces of evil that have long since lain dormant in its many halls have found purchase in this chaos. Vile genestealer cults worming their way through what little remains of the work force. Traitors and subjects to warp induced madness sectioning and turning whole decks of the ship into their hunting grounds. A powerful crime syndicate trading in goods they seemingly have no way of procuring in the system. Your objective is as much to help restore at least some the colossal ship's functionality as it is to navigate the many intricacies of local politics amidst the cumbersome Imperial structure. Not to mention an firm refusal of local mechanicus contingent to assist the ship master as well as a mysterious set of circumstances impeding long range communications across the entire system... for most people that is.

The organisational stuff:
We get together on discord as our voip of choice at 5pm (17.00) GMT+3 once a week - every week. Games last from 3-4 hours on average, but if people are down, we do occasionally stay an hour-ish longer.

Platform is FoundryVTT. No veteran in using this particular virtual tabletop as I've been using R20 for years before, but i have gotten the hang of it by now mostly. No buy-in, no subscription, no microtransactions - I'm not EA after all, i do this shit free of charge with no dlc.

After i have candidates selected, expect me to reach out to you via discord and try to organise a mini-session 0 outside the campaign day. This is a one time thing, to help you make your character and give you an opportunity to click around some buttons, as well as talk you through some basics if necessary to see how things work in a vacuum at least.

If what I have to show fits your freak, go ahead and fill in the form as I'd like to know more about you as a potential player!
