How do you manage up effectively with work updates?

I have a leader who I meet with every week, but those one-on-one meetings are very short and usually require her input on decisions. How do I loop her into all of the various ways that I am resolving issues on my own without taking up too much time? I don’t want to send a long email and I don’t want her to think that I’m clogging up her inbox, but I also realize she does not really know all of the day-to-day program issues that I am resolving. I try not to bring things up to her that I’ve resolved on my own because I need that time for her to discuss matters where we need a quick decision or provide an update on metrics.

Maybe I’m overthinking it. Does it even matter? Do leaders at the VP level even care — is it more as long as you’re doing your job and aren’t slacking, they’re more focused on dealing with their own leader…

Still trying to figure out corporate life lol.
