Getting a second opinion from an orthodontist

I was born with a cleft lip and palate and have been in braces over the past 7 years. I’m currently 22. I also had jaw surgery 5 months ago for related complications.

I’ve been really fed up with my current orthodontist lately, especially with his lack of communication and vague answers. I also have another person issue with my current ortho but I’m not gonna talk about that. I literally have no clue what’s happening with my braces anymore and it feels like there is no end left at all.

I decided to make a consultation with another ortho in the area for a second opinion but now I’m really second guessing my choice. I feel like I might be ignoring my current ortho or maybe the new ones is gonna think I’m weird for requesting a second opinion in such a complex case . I’d really like to know what the second orthos opinion is but I don’t know if I should even go. What if my current ortho finds out and terminated my ongoing treatment? I feel like this was a bad idea
