Going kayaking and camping - need Least expensive Dry food (Like MRE's)

I have been looking online for Camping food and finding that the pouches are way more expensive than I remember (about $16 for a pouch)
Is there anywhere that people more in the know about camping and the MRE Type food in Calgary that I can go get some (Actually asking for a nephew who is 20 and going on his first camping trip where they are kayaking in, so can't take a lot of heavy weight)
