Reddit's handing out shadow bans like crazy right now, seems there's a lot of errors. If anyone is noticing a drop in post engagement or a lack of comment replies, check Reddit's appeal form (linked below)
Appeal form: https://www.reddit.com/appeal
If you cannot submit an appeal, your account is probably fine. But if you can then there's a restriction in place and you may want to appeal to get that fixed. Appeals are supposed to go straight to admins, hopefully resulting in a full human review of the claim.
You can send more than one appeal btw, generally they say 2-3 per week until you receive a response is ideal. But some people send one every 24hrs, it depends how persistent you are.
To be clear on the effects of this; if you are shadow banned your contributions (posts + comments) aren't being seen as they get flagged as spam instantly. I've been going around notifying folks I've seen sitting in our spam queue, but I thought a broader announcement might help.
Make sure to check out r/ShadowBan and it's resources. It can tell you the status of your account. Their appeal guide is also very helpful.
You may be tempted to just make a new account, I would highly advise against this as it often makes the problem worse. Your new account could very easily end up in the same situation as a response to circumventing the ban. It's always best to resolve the problem with the account you currently hold, so try appealing a bunch first. If all else fails and you're absolutely sure it's not getting you anywhere, then maybe consider a new account. But keep the original, don't delete it, often times it gets reinstated much later without the user's knowledge.
Seems there's a huge spam problem on Reddit currently, but not surprisingly a lot of real Redditors are also wrongfully getting caught up in the process of combatting it. This is the downside of relying almost entirely on automated/AI systems. It's so frustrating.
Hope this helps someone, laters <3
