Career change into aviation mechanic at 26

Hi everyone.

I’m looking to make a career change into becoming an aviation mechanic. I am currently in sales and hate it as most do lol. I have a connection with an aviation shop through my work and they told me about this career and some paths I could take.

I have always been infatuated with aviation and originally wanted to be a pilot but poor eyesight pushed me away from that. TBH I never even knew this was an option because I always just assumed aircraft mechanics were aerospace engineer majors from college or military guys and I did not want to join the military.

My biggest issue is I am 26 and want to have a chance to work for UPS or another big company. I know with the seniority aspect of this career I just want to see if that’s even possible or not. I live near Cincinnati and willing to move to Louisville or where ever I need to for this. I’m looking at Cincinnati state for school cause luckily they have a good program. I just feel like it might be a little late to have a lasting career.

I feel kinda stupid not knowing about this cause if I did I would’ve for sure done this out of highschool but oh well I guess.

TL:DR: is 26 too old to transition into this career.
