Fasting numbers. Looking for success stories
Hello!
I’m 29 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with GD about 3 weeks ago. My post-meal numbers are thankfully well controlled, but my fasting numbers are still giving me trouble.
My provider is giving me a week to try a few things to bring them down. If they stay where they are, we’ll move to medication/insulin. I’d really prefer to avoid that if I can, but I also know that keeping my fasting numbers controlled is more important than avoiding medication.
I keep seeing influencers on social media saying things like “comment ___ and I’ll send you my guide to lower fasting numbers,” and I honestly have no idea how legit any of that is 😂 So I figured I’d ask people who have actually dealt with this.
Has anyone here had success getting their fasting numbers down? What actually helped you?
My sleep is pretty disrupted most nights between bathroom trips, getting thirsty, and just general pregnancy insomnia. One thing my provider suggested was a high-protein/high-fat snack 1–2 hours before bed. I tried that last night, but my fasting was still 101 this morning.
Would love to hear what worked for you — even if the answer was ultimately insulin!
