Keeping cool in the heat

I’m currently suffering in the UK heatwave and I can’t deal with it anymore. I’ve got long thick hair and every time a heatwave comes I just want to cut my hair it’s too hot, my scalp is always wet, and my hair feels 10x heavier.

I’ve heard people talk about different hairstyles but I’m seriously lacking in the hair skills department, I break every claw clip I find as it doesn’t fit my hair, all I own are hair bands because I tie my hair up loosely when I eat but not in a way that makes anything less hot.

I’ve done a half up half down in public a few times but I don’t really like it, and I did a high ponytail once during a camping trip when I was 11 with school and was made fun of (I should be over this by now but I’m not) so I’ve never really tried anything with my hair or know how to do anything and this heat is killing me!!!
