Hi Knitting Help!

My daughter has requested I make her a mohair, mock-neck cardigan. She sent me a reference photo from a shop which is too far beyond our price point. (I'm hesitant to post it here because I don't want to take away business from the designer and tie it to a pattern hack). Suffice it to say, it looks something like this MFT Cardigan No 5 pattern, but with a bigger gauge.

I'm looking to recreate it and I have two options:

1. Buy the [MFT pattern](https://myfavouritethings-knitwear.com/collections/blouse-no-5/products/blouse-no-5-english) and try to replicate it with a bigger gauge and fewer buttons:

2. Buy [this pattern](https://www.caidree.com/shop/p/mohair-gallant-sweater-knitting-pattern) and try to turn it into a cardigan.

I'm leaning into option 2, especially if it would be possible to steek as I've been on a bit of a cardigan bender lately and I'm sick of knitting back and forth. But I wanted to ask those who are more experienced than I am to see what might be the best option.

The third option would be to find something on Ravelry, but I have searched pretty extensively and not found similar sweaters in mohair with the same mock collar.

Thanks in advance for all your help!
