Rules for this are quite simple: I'll find a matchup for every character that has ever had a main appearance in Death Battle, as a bonus challenge, they have to be paired against a character who has never been on the show proper.

**Matchup: Shang Tsung VS Thresh (Mortal Kombat VS League of Legends)**

**Roots: Thresh** (This is going to be strange to admit, to be honest. I played Mortal Kombat, specifically MK1, and know vastly more about Shang Tsung as a character. In comparison, I have never played nor consumed any LoL material, although I do plan to watch Arcane soon. However, something about Thresh intrigues me. I’m struck at his design, his lore is interesting, and his voice acting is quite lovely; besides, I root for the old combatant a bit too much, so you know what. I chose him! Still never playing League of Legends though.)

**Bets: Shang Tsung** (This matchup appears to be a lot more debatable than one might think, and probably nearly 50/50 in base, although I would still give it to Shang given his sheer versatility, despite Thresh’s sheer unkillable being a huge issue. However, when we put both characters at their absolute peak, I feel as though Titan Shang Tsung is much more powerful than Unbound Thresh, especially given the vastness of MK’s cosmology.)

**Reasoning for choosing this matchup:** I feel as though this would be a very interesting fight to watch, as both of them would have a Death Battle in which the combatants rely on trying to physiologically manipulate and torment one another while using their magic; it’d allow for a lot of creativity within the fight. I also like the dynamic of how they view souls, with Shang Tsung consuming them as a resource and Thresh tormenting them for eternity. That’d probably tie into the set-up of how they fight. Also the aesthetics rock and the banter would be godlike.

**Animation Style:** 3D, every LoL episode has been 3D for good reason. Both have perfectly good models, so they should be used

**Track Name:** Seared Souls, probably an instrumental track, maybe with a choir like Halo to Hell

**Ranking:** This is definitely BFB and I legitimately cannot think of another Shang Tsung matchup even remotely as good as this. It’s not perfect but it doesn’t need to be. 8/10

**Likeliness of Happening:** I’d say Shang Tsung is definitely a good contender for a rerun, considering his last episode was 16 years ago, and I lowkey think more LoL episodes would be cool, since the lore is genuinely interesting. I’d say it definitely could happen.
