hey everyone!

i recently took the first big step to getting the procedure done, and saw the most reputable gynecologist in my area. upon completion of my exam, as well as the conversation beforehand, she has agreed that a labiaplasty is medically necessary, and will be covered under my insurance (yay!). i expressed concern over a few areas of the procedure, specifically surrounding loss in sensation, nerve damage, chronic dryness, etc, and she validated each and every single one. mentioned that the only lasting pain any client had experienced was due to taking too much tissue, and she had them come back in to address the issue. as for nerve damage, or loss in sensation, she's never had anyone report negatively. did let me know the risk is still there, but not as high as many people would think. she does perform the trim method, as opposed to the wedge, and we will be leaving the vast majority of my hood alone, and just addressing the part that come down. she will be inserting a q-tip underneath the hood where the clitoris sits, and cutting about 1/4-1/2 inch up, and trimming that to restore normal clitoral function. should i proceed? i'm about 2 weeks shy of 21, and have lived with this for as long as i can remember, before age 10. as a young child, i often fantasized about cutting the elongated pieces off, obviously with no knowing of a procedure, but was often close to doing it myself at times. now that i can see the light at the end of the tunnel, im curious what everyone's experiences are. what are things you experienced that you didn't think would happen? symptoms? recovery time? i'm very excited to get this done, and currently, the only thing left is to get scheduled. thank you!
