Android box hijacks the steering-wheel voice button on my car
I installed an Android box (Linkifun GT8D) in my XPENG P7+ to use additional apps and Android Auto. However, I’m having an annoying issue with the steering-wheel voice control button.
Whenever I press the voice control button, Google Assistant or Gemini opens on the Android box instead of the native XPENG voice assistant. I’ve already tried disabling Google Assistant/Gemini in the Android box settings, but the button still triggers it.Under settings I changed the Voice Assistant button to "none", but it still triggers it.
When the Android box is disconnected, the button appears to work normally and activates the built-in XPENG voice assistant. This makes me think the Android box is intercepting the steering-wheel button and treating it as the Android ASSIST key event.
Has anyone experienced this with an Android box in an XPENG?
I’m looking for one of the following solutions:
-
a way to really disable gemini/google assistant
-
A setting to pass the original XPENG voice-command button through to the car.
-
Any other workaround that allows the native XPENG voice assistant to remain active.
The Android box is connected through USB-C , and the vehicle is an XPENG P7+.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
